Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under direction of the Director of Maintenance Planning, the Maintenance Planner will use processes from the company\u2019s Equipment Asset Management (AM) program and all other available means to develop job plans, schedules and assist with budgeting\/forecasting for the equipment\/assets under his\/her area of responsibility, within the company policies and objectives. The Maintenance Planner, in cooperation with mine site maintenance supervision and the operating group, implements appropriate maintenance planning and control routines to ensure target equipment and manpower utilization is achieved at the lowest unit cost. He\/she ensures maintenance planning activities are carried out within company policy, customer needs, and statutory requirements of all US and Canadian regulatory organization, to include: the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mine and Environmental Regulations and US Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Under direction of the Director of Maintenance Planning, the EAM Maintenance Planner ensures that the following functions are carried out for a multi-mine environment. Equipment\/Assets: Carries out regular reviews of equipment hierarchy in the company\u2019s CMMS (JDE) equipment asset management (EAM) system to ensure equipment is set up correctly and hierarchy is maintained. Ensures that the appropriate service types are set-up in the EAM system for all equipment and their related components. Assists in developing appropriate replacement schedules for all electrical and mechanical equipment within the operation and recommends the investigation of cost or other problem areas. Identifies obsolete equipment and assists with disposable and\/or transfer Manages lifecycle of major equipment components optimizing component life and managing major component usage in a multi mine environment. Seek out best value options for multi mine component rebuilds and component sharing. Job Planning: Plans all non-emergency\/breakdown type work Carries out regularly scheduled reviews of the work order backlog validating work orders, check and correct work order coding, and check and validate work orders that are older than ninety days. Checks on all work orders created daily to ensure they are coded correctly. Plans work by identifying WCC resource and contractor requirements. Monitors progress and, with mine site resources, make onsite inspections of maintenance work as required and reviews with mine site management any variances from routines and standards. Oversees the recording of work order statistics, the receiving and distribution of work orders and posting of information on outstanding and completed work orders. Maintains accurate records of maintenance activity performance against established work order routines and recommends revisions and changes where appropriate. Collects data from purchase requisitions to update the status of material backlog work orders. Assists the mine site maintenance group with the establishment of appropriate equipment parts lists and advises the material group of the required equipment and materials for each planned job or routine. Coordinates and assists each mine with a Post Mortem on completed jobs such as major component replacements, overhauls and shutdowns. Information to be collected should include costs (actual vs estimate), man hours (actual vs estimate), contractor performance, job delays and recommendations for improvements on similar future jobs. Ensures that programs are established for conducting routine activities that are required by applicable acts and regulations (i.e. annual brake tests). Ensures Job Plans are created for all Planning Level. Scheduling: Assists in the development of the annual maintenance plan for his\/her area of responsibility. Develops the weekly and daily maintenance schedules for all maintenance crews within his\/her area of responsibility. Assist with mine site supervision in determining the maintenance manpower availability for the upcoming week. Determines the \u201cnet capacity\u201d during the development of the weekly schedule. Review\/determines equipment availability and utilization requirements with mine and\/or plant (if applicable) management prior to the development of the \u201cdraft\u201d weekly schedule. Distributes the new work schedules to maintenance, materials, engineering and production supervision and associated planned work order packages are provided to the Maintenance Foremen in a timely manner. Monitors the execution of the weekly schedule, providing his\/her supervisor weekly\/monthly schedule compliance. Monitors and provides to his\/her supervisor any variances to schedule on major projects, shutdowns and overhauls. Maintenance Tactics: Assists in development and implementation, in cooperation with the mine site maintenance groups, planned\/preventative maintenance programs concerned for all aspects of the mine and\/or plant (if applicable). Ensures that adequate information, reporting and materials management systems are in place to allow the efficient operation of these programs. Recommends and implements changes to the preventative maintenance programs where required. Reviews the preventative maintenance programs periodically for cost-effectiveness with mine site maintenance and operating supervisory staff. Oversees the preparation of all PM checklists for distribution to maintenance supervisory staff and collection of these sheets when completed for recording of all appropriate statistics. Ensures that current maintenance manuals are available and updated as required. Manages the process for replacing components within the JDE computer system and ensures that component replacement intervals are reviewed regularly. Ensuring that the component forecast model is kept current with this information. Ensures that routine activities like winterization, air conditioning checks, etc are established and maintained in the commercial computer system. Ensures that routine activities required by applicable acts and regulations (i.e. annual brake tests, annual crane inspections, MSHA or statutory maintenance items, etc.) are established and maintained in the JDE computer system. Performance Measures: With his Supervisor, establishes and regularly reviews maintenance performance job time standards and recommends changes where appropriate. With his Supervisor, prepares and issues a weekly performance report for each mine maintenance group. Works with the engineering and accounting departments in the monitoring and control of equipment costs, utilization and productivity. Coordinates the necessary corrective measures with these groups. Prepares weekly, monthly and annual KPI reports for EAM. Data Management: Constantly reviews and evaluates statistics on the maintenance program and takes action as appropriate. Ensures that complete and accurate records are compiled and stored on the following: Equipment histories \u2013 mine and\/or plant (if applicable) Planned maintenance work, work orders Preventive maintenance work, service routines Maintenance schedules, actual performance \u2013 man-hours and costs Emergency maintenance work Major repairs and rebuilds, overhaul schedules Accident-related repairs Equipment maintenance costs; financial histories Third party data, including: Caterpillar SIS, LinkOne, Komatsu VHMS, FluidLife, Ivara, Minestar, Pegasys, VIMS, VibeTech, all other history and health data report sites Materials Management: Submits appropriate inventory set-up requests to materials as required. Works with Mine Site Materials groups in establishing min\/max\u2019s for inventory items. Submits to Materials through the work order system, requests for parts and services for jobs being planned. Maintain Major Equipment, Standard Work Order Bill of Materials. Reviews Direct Charge report daily, monitoring progress on the delivery of parts for work orders being planned. Works with Materials group in managing Direct Charge parts. Performs routine inspections of Direct Charge parts ensuring that any unused parts are returned to the vendor. Assist with managing vendor component rebuild programs. Review and assist managing inventory levels at all site, establishing vendor managed inventory (VMI), consignments and parts pool parts. Take lead on semi-annual obsolescent parts reviews for all WCC inventory levels. Take lead on inventory redundancy preventions and mine parts sharing initiative. Job Requirements PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrates understanding of concepts and techniques for maintaining, production and support equipment in an open-pit\/or plan environment. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communiation, leadership, organization and administrative skills. Ability to sequence and schedule complex inter-related activities in a multi-mine environment. Ability to work with project management software and EAM enterprise system module TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Maintenance office environment with frequent travel to several mine sites. Assignments may also require travel to vendor sites and\/or corporate office. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor\u2019s degree in engineering or a combination of education and experience. 4 or more years of relevant experience. Experience with JD Edward\u2019s EAM module, preferred Experience in mining industy preferred
