The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance resources, parts, materials, and equipment access. This role reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Responsibilities include planning and coordination of all planned maintenance activities performed at the site.
Core Planning Responsibilities:
Detailed Job planning
Researching: Responsible for researching task/job being perform to ensure all relevant information and requirements to complete the task/job are capture.
Scoping of work: Perform walk downs of the worksites and equipment being worked on to ensure a proper work scope is created.
Estimating of material and labor (internal and external) job requirements
Developing task instructions: Develop job plans that provide detail step by step instructions from start to finish of the task/job being perform.
Identifying tool and equipment requirements: identify all tools and equipment require to complete the task/job.
Developing job material lists: Identify and develop a list of all the materials that will be require to complete the task/job.
PM and Standard Job Plan Development
o Utilize our CMMS (Maximo) to develop PM tasks and associated job plans.
MRO Supply Chain Coordination
Creation of purchase requisitions for planned work
Creation of stock reservations for planned work
Pick Ticket creation for planned work
Assist Storeroom function in the kitting and staging of job material requirements
Coordinating with operations, purchasing, materials management, maintenance personnel, Tech Services and other support groups to ensure teamwork efficiency during shutdowns.
Allows the organization to be more efficient in taking advantage of schedule shutdowns
Additional Planning Responsibilities:
Planning and scheduling for shutdowns (major and minor)
Gantt charts: Have the ability to create and navigate Gantt charts to track project/shutdown activity progress.
Critical Path Analysis: Utilize the Critical Path to identify sequential activities from start to finish of shutdown.
Resource leveling: Ensure proper use and efficiency of resource allocation.
Development of Planner reference systems including a file of Planned Job Packages for recurring jobs, plus labor and material libraries for each piece of equipment.
Keeps the Maintenance Supervisor and Operations Supervisors informed of abnormal or critical situations and seeks advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority.
Identifies recommendations and or areas for improvements.
Maintains essential records and files from which management reports are prepared and distributed.
Enters purchase requisitions for all planned services.
Enters EAM system reservations for all planned material requirements.
Responsible for the maintenance of the Bills of Material (Parts lists) for assets including ensuring current information is accurate
Participation in budgetary preparation, tracking, and analysis.
Assists the Leadership Team in periodic analysis of cost trends with recommendations for continual improvement.
Reviews all work order feedback and updates PMs and Standard Work Orders accordingly.
Assist with the development of junior level planners.
Responsible for providing maintenance schedules to customers
Responsible for holding monthly planning meetings with area scheduler/planners I and other essential personnel.
The Maintenance Planner is an integral part of the Maintenance Team. They are an organizational peer and partner of the Scheduler/Planners I. They are jointly responsible for the tasks required to ensure the effective capacity utilization, reliability and life cycle asset management.
Minimum of five (5) years industry experience
Two (2) years planning experience, including developing scope and detailed job plans for preventive and corrective maintenance work
High school diploma or equivalent
