This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Rail Systems professional to join one of the region’s fastest growing companies. We have an immediate need for an Operations Manager for Rail Systems to work in the DC metro area. The successful candidate will be responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within the rail systems area of responsibility, which includes multi-area and multi-discipline construction projects.
Gather customer requirements and communicate with customer to develop program scope.
Work with technical personnel to establish the program plan of actions based on contractual and operational requirements; track task completion; identify and resolve scheduling, materials, budget or personnel conflicts. Tasks include preventative and corrective maintenance of the system, additional systems installation, performance enhancement and moves as well as ads and configuration changes.
Establish and maintain the staffing plan in accordance with the program direction and the contractual obligations. Supervise procurement, shipping, receiving, and other logistical functions and processes.
Responsibilities include program materials inventory, identifying and escalating any potential materials, staffing and/or budgetary issues.
Work with technical personnel to establish a set of performance criteria and reporting structure to ensure program execution within its target service levels. Regularly review program performance reports, identify issues, work with technical teams to resolve them, provides service level information and clarification to the customer as needed.
Minimum of 10 years experience performing Project Management/Operations duties in the Rail Systems industry.
The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related experience.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and the coordination of manpower and resources.
Proven operations experience ensuring compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
Understanding the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various projects.
Familiarity with rail systems regulations and knowledge of major vendors related to local business.
Experience working with contract documents such as contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications and change orders.
Must be proficient with MS Office, estimating software and project scheduling software.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance if needed.
