The Production Planner is tasked with organizing production to meet customer’s demand. He/she ensures that goods are manufactured on time to meet end customer needs. The position requires planning and prioritizing operations to ensure to maximize efficiency of equipment, labor and supplier. The production planner is an integral part of the manufacturing team as they are defining what to produce and when to produce it. Production planner is responsible for customer’s on-time delivery (OTD).
Manage planning and scheduling activities to drive customer order fulfillment, production efficiency, optimal inventory levels, and continuous improvement across key supply chain business objectives.
Meet daily with operations team to review performance to the work plan, review aged work orders, work order variances and advise of future demand requirements – adjust manufacturing plan as needed in conjunction with operations.
Weekly maintain work order performance metrics – on-time start, on-time completion, lead-time compliance, aged work orders, labor and material variances. Work with operations, engineering, purchasing, etc. to resolve issues affecting metrics.
Perform daily review of on-time delivery issues and code appropriately – responsible for analysis of delivery issues and corrective actions to process to improve metric performance.
Work with operations and purchasing to develop capacity plans (labor, equipment, materials) to meet the longer-term demand requirements.
Develop production plans and schedules to support customer order fulfillment.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.,B.S.) or equivalent from an accredited college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
QAD or equivalent ERP experience.
Analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
Understanding of MRP, capacity planning, and lean concepts.
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously to meet delivery deadlines.
Demonstrated self-starter and highly motivated.
Ability to use work-processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
