Job Description:

The Transportation Manager Planning & Carrier Strategy is

primarily responsible for overseeing the strategic relationships for Lowe’s

North American transportation providers. The Transportation Manager Planning & Carrier Strategy oversees the

negotiation of transportation contracts and rates for all North American transportation

providers which includes: Truckload,

Flatbed, Intermodal, domestic ocean carriers (Jones Act), Rail Roads, and

Dedicated Fleet providers. The Manager

ensures that service levels meet expectations and that the necessary carrier

capacity is in place to support Lowe’s business needs. The position also has a role in controlling

transportation expenses, by negotiating and developing continually improving

carrier program initiatives that help achieve increased integration of supply

chains (organization and process) between Lowe’s, Lowe’s vendors and Lowe’s

core carriers.


· This position manages

individual contributors responsible for the negotiation of contracts and rates

for 100 transportation providers across North America with a combined freight

spend of over $1 Billion.

· The Transportation Manager

Planning & Carrier Strategy is also responsible for presenting feedback and

direction on behalf of Lowe’s Transportation in meetings and conference calls

with carriers, vendors and various internal departments regarding

Transportation related issues.

· To accomplish this, the

Transportation Manager Planning & Carrier Strategy must have knowledge of

transportation operations, transportation law, current market conditions and a

general Supply Chain understanding.

· Develops TL, Flatbed, Intermodal, Domestic Ocean

carrier, Rail and Dedicated Fleet programs to meet the capacity and service

requirements of the Lowe's supply chain to ensure the timely movement of

products to DC’s, stores, and end


Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Business

Administration or related field plus 5 years of experience in Supply Chain,

Transportation or Logistics

· 3 years of leadership experience with

direct report responsibility

· Experience conducting financial analyses

to support decisions 2 years of experience managing projects and project

budgets Experience working with and acting as primary POC for the company for

external suppliers

Preferred Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation or


· Industry-wide expertise with a proven

track record of success at a high-volume retail shipper with all domestic

transportation modes

· Accountable for an annual transportation

spend of at least $500 million

· Experience using transportation

optimization software such as JDA or i2

· Experience managing a team of at least 20

total associates – direct and indirect reports

· E-Commerce experience
