Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

The candidate will provide matter expertise support the NSDC Chief of Operations in all aspects of drafting and publishing the Joint Space Tasking Order and provide subject matter expertise in integrating new and emerging capabilities into the NSDC. The Ops Planner will provide technical engineering support by maintaining performance metrics of the NSDC mission system and technical baseline deployed to the NSDC, collect data for trending, and perform analysis for reports and recommendations for maintaining reliability of the system. Ops Planners will provide support on a continuous basis for mission adaptation to new adversary capabilities or mission efficiency\/effectiveness to operational level Tactics, Techniques, and Procedure (TTP) development as it pertains to space situational awareness sensors, or integration of space situational awareness sensors into broader operational level plans, exercises, or operations.
Essential Functions: Perform requirements elicitation, definition, and functional allocation to hardware and\u00a0software segments and components
Perform trend analysis and product performance analysis of the mission systems (to include hardware and software components) and provide recommendations to NSDC gov\u2019t personnel and leadership of ways to maintain or improve system performance
Support of NSDC experiments, exercises and operations
Use modeling and simulation analyses to support design validation and mission benefit analyses
Prepare and brief technical presentations at informal and formal meetings
Write technical white papers, memorandums and reports
Perform research, studies and analyses in support of crew force progression requirements, and manpower assessments
Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts to enhance mission operations
Support the development of technological concepts which improve system performance and mission capabilities
Interact with engineering teams and customer to identify problems, perform failure analysis to root cause, and develop solutions to correct deficiencies
Develop, conduct and document military utility assessments of non-traditional data sensors and sources
Support critical operations during standard and non-standard working hours
Conduct system\u00a0requirements reviews and create and\/or update requirement specifications\u00a0and technical documentation
Review system engineering documentation to\u00a0ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive,\u00a0and complete
Develop trade\u00a0studies to guide selection of components to ensure requirement\u00a0satisfaction
Develop and assess course of action alternatives in project development\/product delivery
Develop and\u00a0conduct test plans\/procedures for software\/hardware integration tests, be\u00a0responsible for integration\/execution, detailed data analysis, and\u00a0preparation of software test reports
Participate in\u00a0engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure\u00a0engineering rigor is appropriate for each project\u2019s current lifecycle\u00a0phase
Support the\u00a0project management team by performing technical planning, including cost, risk\u00a0and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems following\u00a0a defined system design lifecycle process (concept, design, fabrication,\u00a0test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal)
Perform risk\u00a0analysis, including identifying and assessing project risks
Develop and execute risk mitigation\u00a0plans and management of risks on projects
Provide risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies to project\u00a0managers Basic Qualifications:\u00a0 Bachelor\u2019s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline from an accredited university and 10 year of systems engineering experience OR
Master\u2019s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline and 8 years of systems engineering experience OR
PhD in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline and 3 years of systems engineering experience
An active DoD Top Secret security clearance
The ability to obtain and maintain program access \u00a0Preferred Qualifications: Previous Intergraded Joint Special Technical Operations planning experience
Experience with\u00a0requirements analysis and systems design within projects
Experience\u00a0writing specifications, design, ConOps, and Interface Control Documents
Experience with C2 weapon systems and operations.
Previous\u00a0experience supporting DoD\/government customers
Ability to write\u00a0subsystem specification and requirements
Hardware\/software\u00a0requirement verification\/system validation experience
Demonstrated\u00a0excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent inter-personal and\u00a0communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team and\u00a0act as customer interface for technical aspects
Leadership\u00a0experience with medium and small project implementations.
Experience\u00a0working directly with customers onsite at their facility.

5 years experience in the SSA or Space C2 community
