As the Sr. Global Demand Planner you will be responsible for providing analytical insights across Product Creation and Go-To-Market (GTM) processes to enhance merchandising, sourcing, and demand planning decision making for Columbia Sportswear Footwear.
Here you will play an integral role in the partnership with Global Finance and Merchandising teams to set initial categorical targets and track key metrics. You will also connect the Merchandising Forecast to the Sourcing and Manufacturing planning process. Finally, you will provide analytics to support the consensus forecasting process between Global Merchandising, Regional Merchandising, and Regional Demand Planning teams. As the Global Demand Planning function matures and evolves, future state may include long range forecasting using statistical methods.
Initiate the financial and unit volume targeting process with Global Finance and collaborate with Global Merchandising to reconcile a global, omni-channel forecast
Conduct financial reviews with Global Merchandising, Global Finance, and key business leaders and/or executive leadership
Facilitate analysis for the long-range forecasting process for improved supply chain and manufacturing planning
Lead and participate in key Product Creation and GTM waypoints providing analytics and recommendations to key stakeholders and decision makers
Drive forecast process improvement and best practices with key business partners to measure and improve forecast accuracy metrics season-over-season/year-over-year
Support analytics and insights related to Executive and Brand Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) activities
Create benchmark data sets and provide hindsight reviews including, but not limited to forecast accuracy measures, capacity planning, and other supply chain metrics
Support line plan development process in collaboration with Global Merchandising to create forecasts at varying levels of aggregation depending on seasonal process waypoints, both tops-down and bottoms-up
Provide line plan analysis and recommendations to Global Merchandising at varying levels (style, color, and size) to improve SKU/style productivity and forecast accuracy
Create forecast confidence intervals, identify market opportunities and risks that may need to be shared with cross-functional partners including Global and Regional Merchandising, Sales, and Sourcing/Manufacturing and other down-stream business partners and stakeholders in potential future state
Participate in creating, defining, and stabilizing the Global Demand Planning function
Participate in requirements gathering, testing, documentation, and training materials for systematic upgrades and/or new capabilities
Responsible for providing training or leadership for immediate team members and organizational matrix partners. Lead in cross-functional projects as assigned. May assist with the review and evaluation of personnel.
Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Management or other applicable discipline; MBA desirable
8 years of professional experience in enterprise and/or global planning, forecasting, analytics, and/or related fields.
Superior forecasting, analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to translate qualitative product information and input into the quantitative forecast
Experience using information systems associated with demand forecasting and merchandise planning
Understanding of global omni-channel and/or wholesale and direct-to-consumer business with experience in planning and buying
Previous work with other cultures in a business setting, and awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences
Strong experience using Business Intelligence and visualization tools (PowerBI/Tableau)
Expert-level experience using Microsoft Excel and moderate experience using other Microsoft suite applications
Political Savvy and organizational agility are key competencies
Excellent presentation skills to varying levels within an organization
Statistical forecasting experience desired
Appareland Footwear industry experience preferred
