Dometic is seeking a Material Planner to add to our growing Greenbrier, TN facility! This person will coordinate and expedite the flow of materials within or between departments of the manufacturing establishment according to the production schedule. The Material Planner reports directly to the Materials Manager.
Responsible for the management of inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected items, either manufactured or purchased to meet production schedules
Coordinate expedited shipments as required; enter air freight requests into the system and track accordingly
Plans material and releases appropriate schedules to suppliers by reviewing and analyzing inventory profiles and giving consideration to usage, lead times, and economics.
Maintains and updates MRP system on purchase part data, purchase orders, and cost information so that the most current information is available.
Participates in production and materials meetings supplying status information and reacting to scheduling changes in order to support production and as required by MRP or other special circumstances.
Communicates and works with suppliers to determine agreeable course of action when raw material or purchased product is rejected by Quality.
Investigates discrepancies on receipt quantities, missing certifications, packing lists, etc., contacts and works with vendor toward problem solution to meet production requirements.
Coordinates implementation of engineering changes affecting purchased parts by continuously communicating with Engineering, Production, Quality and/or the supplier to ensure a smooth transition to the new/changed parts.
Communicates the status of parts planned, purchased and expedited written or verbally to supervisor to keep supervisor informed.
Perform other duties as assigned
Associate’s Degree or equivalent
5 or more years of related experience
Additional experience may be substituted for education and vice versa.
Previous background in manufacturing environment required
Computer literacy applied to scheduling and data management; MRP experience beneficial
Must possess solid analytical skills in forecasting and anticipating production needs and capabilities
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress
Strong interpersonal skills requiring the ability to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation
Possess a strong sense of urgency with the ability to multitask and prioritize accordingly
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
