The Senior Event Planning manager trains, manages and coaches Event managers. Primary responsibility is to service large group business. This position is viewed as part of the leadership in the Events Team. This person is assigned additional responsibilities that include supervisory duties over part of the Event department team, usually Event Planning Managers, Administrative Assistants, and Trainees.
In addition, this position is required to service groups. Responsibilities include: administering the Sales agreement, detailing all Food, Beverage and A/V needs, managing room blocks and pick up, billing instructions and final review. Senior EPM’s are the on-site contacts and are responsible for the smooth execution of all events. Duties include contract review and facilitating communication before, during, and post event with pertinent hotel staff to ensure a high level of service.
Senior EPM’s host hotel tours, maintain strong customer relationships, participate and may lead event meetings, and other staff meetings, and work as a team member with the sales and catering staff. The manager also works closely with an assigned Administrative Assistant and other support staff.
3-5 years of event planning experience
Refined verbal and communication skills
Good organizational, operational, administrative, and interpersonal skills are a must
Envision and Microsoft Office experience preferred
