Reports to: Maintenance Manager

The Plant Maintenance Planner and Scheduler reports to the Maintenance Manager and is primarily responsible for managing the CCMS system (Infor), SAP purchasing work and will also manage daily maintenance schedules.


The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective execution of all maintenance work control processes. The person will be responsible for the efficient planning /scheduling of resources to conduct maintenance activities which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler will manage work priority, develop job plans, define parts/materials, define crafts/skills and engage the proper resources to ensure a safe, effective, and efficient work control plan.

The person will manage CCMS system at the plant (Infor) and manage SAP purchasing work for maintenance department.

Job Duties:

  • Scopes out and schedules all mechanical and electrical work in the plant daily.
  • Physically scope out the steps required to complete the task– this is a critical step for the successful execution of the jobs, and a major part of the job.
  • Resource allocation according to job scope
  • Reach out to proper contracting resources if necessary - actively manage the work to minimize cost
  • Purchase parts and keep track of Maintenance inventory
  • Identify proper equipment and tools required to safely execute work
  • Works with production personnel to schedule the appropriate work
  • Follows up on all work scheduled with Lead and closes out each job to history
  • Track the WOs in CCMS (Infor) and close them after completion
  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing equipment problems when necessary
  • Schedule all preventive and predictive maintenance and assure all follow up work has been captured in the maintenance backlog.
  • Develop required PM from Root Cause Analysis (RCA) findings and PM / PdM feedback to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Manage Shutdown and Boilout (Down day) work schedule.
  • Track schedule compliance and PM compliance.
  • Align engineering, maintenance, operations and calibration work to minimize production downtime.
  • Work with project team to facilitate their needs if necessary.
  • Develop and maintain equipment information and equipment history databases.
  • Track maintenance KPI’s
  • PMs (maintenance and calibration)completed on time
  • Create or modify preventive maintenance procedures and/or calibration procedures to ensure that they are clear, complete, and accurate as related to the expected time required, and the quality of work performed.
  • Drives an awareness and focus on safety including lock-out, tag-out programs, appropriate equipment guarding measures, and all other environmental, health, and safety programs.

Environmental, Safety and Health Responsibilities:

  • Gain a thorough working knowledge of Chemtrade Environmental, Safety& Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.

  • Serve as the ES&H representative to plant personnel by managing safety work Orders effectively.

  • Provide leadership through participation in ES&H initiatives and programs.

  • Ensure that ES&H action items are effectively accomplished and tracked to closure.

  • Participate in ES&H meetings and training forums.

  • Respond to ES&H incidents through prompt and thorough reporting, incident investigation, and root cause identification and action item implementation.

  • Provide input to improve ES&H performance compared to metrics.


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of Maintenance Planner/Scheduler experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills, email, excel, word, ability to learn Infor mandatory
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to relate well and cooperate with others to effectively coordinate activities and accomplish goals
  • Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and continual diligence about follow-up
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Well organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound judgment, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage the flow of all required information and documentation
  • Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical experience preferred)
  • An understanding of GMP compliance.
  • Business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Basic mathematical and statistical computation methods and practices.
