This position will suit an early-career applicant who is looking for the opportunity to broaden their skill-base to work across all FP&A disciplines of our exciting start-up Company. Initially reporting to the CFO, the position is expected to report into the FP&A manager as the finance team expands to match the company’s growth. The applicant will assist the CFO in the preparation of the annual budget and other ad-hoc forecasts and will work with the accounting manager to provide monthly budget-actual variances for various department heads. The role will also likely flex to support a specific area of the business as the Company grows.
Responsibilities & Duties
Works with the CFO to own the creation and ongoing development of our Budgets, Forecasting, Operating Plan, Modeling/Scenario planning and Long-Range Plans
Analyzes complex financial data to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision-making purposes
Analyzes current and past trends in various performance indicators including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses and capital expenditures highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances
Prepares formal Quarterly and Monthly Financial reports and ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
Works with Department Heads to provide timely and relevant information to enable them to meet their business requirements within the Company’s approved financial parameters
Develops complex financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives through timely financial data analysis
Designs and prepares high-quality PowerPoint, and similar, presentations of FP&A-related matters for presentation to Senior Management, Department Heads and the Board of Directors
Works with the CFO to implement and maintain business-appropriate Financial Analysis and Business Intelligence Tools and reporting capabilities
5 years’ experience within a corporate finance or accounting department with a minimum of two years of Financial Planning and Analysis exposure
Life Sciences and start-up experience a significant plus
Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized and self-motivated
Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity
