The Space Management Planner plays a critical role in the Company Space Optimization Strategy. The Space Management Planner collaborates with Business Team Partners, Retail and Merchandising Operations, and Store Design and Planning to analyze and optimize retail store space. The space planning decisions made directly impact the annual capital spend for transformation of physical store space. The Planner serves as the transformation/remodel expert between multiple capability partners as to store selection, deployment timing, floor planning and adjacency, planogram development, and inventory allocation. Responsibilities include delivering space reporting, space allocation and adjacency recommendations to leadership levels, developing draw criteria by category for all transformation projects, training capability partners on the space strategy for each category of business, reviewing 4000 store floor plans annually across all projects impacting physical space changes, and solving critical floor plan and adjacency challenges in the midst of live transformation and remodel deployment all in an effort to improve the customer shopping experience.
What will you do?
Influence and drive store space optimization and space allocation to meet the business, financial, and customer needs in service of the Company Strategy. Collaborate with business teams and cross-functional partners to recommend store level space and adjacency options to achieve budget and category objectives. Participate in and provide thought leadership for larger strategic initiatives to improve processes, the team effectiveness, and the overall business performance.‹
Oversee the store transformation process and timeline throughout the year. Coordinates and develops store space criteria utilized in floor planning and design for existing store transformations (re-flows), relocations, and remodels. A leader in the store map redline process by reviewing store floor plans for accuracy in scope and adjacency preference in service of the desired customer experience. Coordinates execution of store reflow planogram needs to Senior and Space Analyst team members.
Perform store space performance analytics and share with cross functional partners and business team to enhance the customer experience and drive increase in return on space. Leverages analytical optimization tools and reporting to measure macro space performance and provide space allocation recommendations. Conducts hypothesis, test, and verification of potential solutions to enhance the customer experience and drive increase in return on space.
Communication/Cross Functional Effectiveness:
Translates category strategies to ensure Space Management and Business Team partner understanding for proper planning and execution. Exchange relevant team, process, and transition information with cross-functional peers and capability teams. Develop close partnership with Store Design and Planning Category Expert in service of driving and supporting store transformation activities.
Develop individual team members through coaching, training, career counseling, and directing performance development via the use of business performance and personal development goals. Create an environment that supports team growth, collaboration, and engagement. Maintain a balance between individual and team requirements. Provide on-going feedback regarding workload and Space Management capacity.
4 or more years of Merchant, Space, Finance or Inventory Experience
