As Columbia Sportswear’s Sr. Demand Planner you will createseasonal forecasts at style, color and size levels for specific categories andmulti distribution channels. Your forecasting timeline will run from pre-season,post line adoption to in-season execution. You’ll apply historical data,statistical projections, channel and account analysis, sell through results andmarket trends as key inputs to create seasonal and monthly forecasts. Theseforecasts will be monitored and maintained throughout the planning horizon,requiring concurrent efforts across multiple seasons. You’ll work in collaboration with SupplyPlanners and Buyers to forecast confidence, opportunities and risks.
Responsibilities:
Create seasonal and monthly demand forecasts atstyle-color-size level for specific product categories per strategic categoryrevenue goals, market conditions and opportunities, advertising plans, customerbookings and sell-through, channel strategies, account door profiles and growthplans.
Support seasonal go-to-market line developmentprocess by creating initial style level forecasts in collaboration with Salesand Merchandising. Support line planning, SKU management, and long-rangematerial planning by creating seasonal full-price forecasts at the style andstyle-color-size level.
Create monthly demand flow based on historicalshipment flow and aligned to target. Review FOD flow and make recommendationsto support market demand and reduce inventory risk.
Provide on-going reconciliation of the bottomsup style forecasts to the tops down financial targets throughout the go-tomarket process for wholesale and direct to consumer channels.
Lead the collaborative, consensus forecastprocess with Sales and Merchandising during formal Demand Plan Review meetings.
Determine and communicate forecast confidence,including risks and opportunities, to the Supply Planners. Provide input toSupply Planners at style-color level, to reduce buy risk during pre-buildperiod. Monitor demand vs supply plan to ensure coverage and inventory targetsare met.
Utilize Forecast Accuracy results and applylearnings to future style forecasts. Complete color analysis and applylearnings to future color forecasts.
Take a leadership role in providing in-depthanalysis and seasonal recaps to Sales and Merchandising, to inform future lineplans and strategies.
Participate in cross functional task forces toimprove systems and business processes.
Take initiative to provide in-depth analysis forkey stakeholders that informs business decisions and improves supply chainoperations.
Understand, explain and track anomalies thataffect the demand curves and category forecasts.
Responsible for providing training or leadershipfor team members and may assist with the planning and assigning of personnel toprojects or tasks.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, applicable certification or backgroundand experience related to Retail planning
5 years of professional wholesale/retailindustry experience with specialized knowledge of related standards/practicesand initiatives
Advanced knowledge within the Demand Planningfunction and related Supply Chain areas.
Superior forecasting skills.
Experience in key supply chain functionsincluding planning, forecasting, supply planning, buying, materials planning,inbound and outbound logistics, and distribution.
Experience using information systems associatedwith demand and supply planning.
Significant experience using Microsoft Excel tocreate spreadsheets, charts and pivot tables; proficiency with functions suchas sum if, vlookup, etc.
Experience using SAP and Cognos BI preferred
The ability to present to groups of varyingsizes and levels within the company.
