DescriptionCoordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to production schedule. Duties included shipment schedules, conferring with department managers/supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.
Execute and monitor the production control functions including production order review, material shortage review, and cycle counting.
Distribute and maintain shop orders. Including adjusting quantities and dates to align production with customer requirements. Reprinting, splitting, and generating shop orders as necessary to support production.
Run daily production meetings with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, etc to review issues and ensure continuity of production.
Schedule customer requirements by balancing production capacity and customer requests.
Verify and align with the master production schedule to ensure timely delivery of orders.
Plan production to eliminate customer shortages while minimizing inventory investment
Coordinate activities with the Supply Chain organization, Quality, Manufacturing, and Customer Service to ensure on-time customer delivery. Also review material positions so that alternate solutions, if required, are developed to ensure on-time customer delivery.
Participate in cross-functional teams supporting existing and new products from prototype to volume production.
Support Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives.
Continuing education to be able to remain technically competent.
Other duties as apparent or assigned.
Bachelors degree with two years materials planning experience - OR - five years planning/production experience in a MRP manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Kanban, Lean, MRP or Oracle or comparable ERP environments.
Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
Skills with common workplace software (word processor, excel, access etc) with the ability to create and maintain metrics.
Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings.
Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively with customers, suppliers and employees.
Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative and team oriented environment.
